A few days of sun works wonders for the garden. As the daffodils and tulips fade, the apple tree has burst into bloom. Bees abound, like sharks on a feeding frenzy. The show-stopper in the garden right now, however, is certainly the large patch of pink and white bleeding heart plants under the mulberry tree.
One of my sons has caught the growing bug. He hates the lilacs and would be delighted to chop them out. However, he has been nurturing tomato and pepper seedlings to put out in the yard. He planted a blueberry bush already, and I am quite excited with that addition to the garden. And the pot-grown miniature grapefruit and mandarin orange trees that he has started will be especially fun to watch. Nearly four feet high already, they actually have small fruit starting to grow on them! They will have to winter inside with help from lights, but should be an adventure to grow.
